After the successes of the Brecon Carreg plogging team at the 2021 September Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay Run, we’re thrilled to announce a team of ‘Ploggers’, those who run the route and pick up litter along the way, will be back in 2022.
This year, there will be a team of thirty taking to the streets of the Bay to ensure a cleaner event, helping us to keep Cardiff Bay in the same condition that we arrived to it in.
The team at Brecon Carreg have recruited the Ploggers as part of their sustainability agenda and their commitment to environmental change by 2025. As well as having regular teams of Ploggers at events in Wales, title partner Brecon Carreg are introducing 100% recyclable and 100% recycled packaging, using 15% less plastic packaging. They’re also on board with Run 4 Wales as part of the event organiser’s Sustainability Action Group, working with other event partners to come up with innovative and meaningful actions to reduce the impact mass participation events have on the environment.
Eleri Morgan, Brecon Carreg Brand Manager commented, “Having worked with R4W for a number of years, we quickly recognised that the passion and strive for sustainability that we have at Brecon Carreg is a shared one. I’m confident that the ploggers at this year’s Cardiff Bay Run will have an extremely positive impact on recycling rates at the event.”
The team at R4W have been doing lots of work to ensure low-impact events on the environment, set out in the Green Action Plan to provide greener and more sustainable mass participation events.
